  • The Walthamstow Tapestry
Artsnewspaper.tv interviewed the E17 based Turner prize winning artist Grayson Perry about the inspirations behind his latest work The Walthamstow Tapestry. Decked out in his trademark frock Perry is in fine form. I particularly like his comment about working in Walthamstow, “I like walking out of my studio in Walthamstow and just seeing the piles of dogshit, the...

  • BAG Harvest event
Thanks to everyone who showed up for our community garden/harvest celebration on the Douglas Eyre playing fields. The apple press was a particular hit with the look on some of the kids faces when the juice poured forth worth putting the event on for alone. The BBQ didn’t kill anyone, and the apple bobbing was as ever a reliable bit of fun. Many residents discussed...

  • BAG September Newsletter
Firstly apologies for originally posting the wrong date on the website but the bat walk was a great success. The evening was dry after a sunny day and 18 people turned up at the Coppermill Pub. We learned various details about bats and heard their noises on a “Bat detector” which was tuned into the appropriate bat frequency. We couldn’t see any bats...

  • BAG Fun Day
The Blackhorse Action Group Fun Day was a huge hit last Saturday (17th May).  Children of all ages enjoyed learning juggling skills, painting flowerpots, making badges and origami, having a go on the ‘energy bike’, and having their face painted by Big Brother’s Carol Vincent. • Snap happy
A slight break from posts about the council tarmacking over our green field sites for some pretty pictures. This area has more than its fair share of budding David Baileys, as anyone visiting the photo sharing site Flickr will be aware. The Walthamstow group has over a 1,000 pictures to browse through, or alternatively you can search the whole site, for example find...
