BBC 5live in Walthamstow
BBC Radio 5live Breakfast came from Walthamstow market on Saturday the 11th of October.
With chaos on the money markets they broadcast live from Europe’s longest street market and the home of the 99p Store to see if the crunch was biting here.
Listen to the programme below (with the news and sport roughly snipped out):
“Rachel’s on her travels again and this time she’s heading east, all the way to Walthamstow market in East
London. The market has been trading since 1885 and its survived two world wars, the depression and numerous recessions. You can get virtually anything here, from fruit and veg to clothes, shoes and pots and pans, and most of it at knock down prices. It’s just the kind of place that could do well if people are feeling the pinch. Rachel will talk to stall holders, shop keepers and punters about the events of the last few weeks. How do they feel about their taxes bailing out the banks and what money worries do they have?“
